You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key attributes. Within the context of the responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Clinical Expertise – Ability to assess the mental health needs of consumers and their families and to formulate a therapeutic plan and carry out that plan in both individual and group settings including an ability to respond quickly and effectively in a team context to consumers presenting with immediate and serious mental health problems.
Ability to successfully complete Aggressive Behaviour Minimisation (ABM) Training for High Risk Areas according to Qld Health Policy.
Team Participation/Communication – An understanding of and an ability to achieve effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both co-operatively and independently in a flexible and innovative multi-disciplinary team setting, collaboratively with community groups and other agencies, and to contribute to the ongoing development review of the Service.
Clinical Ability – An understanding of a commitment to evidence based practice, continuous quality improvement, the implementation of National Standards for Mental Health Services and participation in research and evaluation and other project work.
Knowledge of, and the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of National and State Mental Health Directions and legislation relevant to the provision of specialist Mental Health Services.
Leadership – An understanding of, or an ability to acquire knowledge of, procedures, policies and regulations which impact upon the position and a knowledge of contemporary Human Resource Management issues such as Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination.
Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements
Mandatory qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
Licence to Operate Vehicle: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
Hepatitis B Vaccination: Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids must be immunised against Hepatitis B according to the National Health and Medical Research Council Australian Immunisation Handbook and the Queensland Health Infection Control Guidelines.
